How does WriteAway differ from writing schools? |
---|
We assume our members already have a facility with words. If members haven’t, then a school would be a better option; long–established schools can steer a student through the disciplines of writing until a sufficiently high standard of competence has been reached. WriteAway helps proficient writers adapt and channel their output so that it gains acceptance in a commercially competitive marketplace.
So how can WriteAway editors suggest improvements?
Even experienced writers' work frequently contains 'bloomers' that should be pruned before drafts reach publishers. These can range from excessive use of adjectives and adverbs to verbal ticks that have accumulated and attached themselves leech-like to the style developed over a writer’s lifetime.
What level of expertise do the WriteAway
assessment Panel members hold?
Each panel member brings individual expertise to your appraisals and assessments. They have operated on both sides of the fence, some as published writers, others as publishing executives handling scores of submissions daily.
Who are the WriteAway assessment Panel members?
All assessors put their name to reports issued on WriteAway's behalf. Their advice is independent, constructive and confidential.
How much does it cost to obtain a further detailed assessment report from a WriteAway Assessor? After the standard appraisal offered to all new members, further assessments
normally range from £55 to £145. For non-fiction, where guidance has to
be tailored to the subject matter, a rate is negotiated in line with the
work anticipated.
If you are not entirely happy with an assessment report we will commission
a second, at our expense.
